The District understands the value of the school and community working together for the benefit of its students, therefore, Cris Kostiuk spends a great deal of time building partnerships within the community. When families, communities and schools work together, students are more successful and the entire community benefits.
APOLLO-RIDGE EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Funding Extraordinary Learning Experiences in STEM +A-Rts for Apollo-Ridge Students
Established in 1996, this all volunteer organization has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the school for curriculum, equipment, and hands-on learning opportunities that take place inside the classroom and beyond the confines of the attendance area.
The Foundation heavily relies on community engagement to reach the objectives of its mission. The most visible example is the "Pride in Our Past, Faith in Our Future" mosaic/mural installed in Apollo in 2019/2020. Through a partnership with IUP's ArtsPath Artist in Residence program for secondary art students, the Education Foundation collaborated with numerous stakeholders to present a masterpiece to the community as a way to give back for the commitment to "keeping the lights on" at the schools.
